infusion therapy for autoimmune disease - PACT Infusion Center in Hamden, CT

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, you may be familiar with the ways it can alter quality of life.

From pain and fatigue to digestion issues and skin concerns, autoimmune disorders present challenges for which traditional medication may not be suited. At PACT Infusion Center, our team has more than two decades of experience infusing biologics to provide our patients relief from life-altering pain, inflammation, and symptoms of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

Autoimmune Conditions We Treat With Infusion Therapy at PACT Infusion Center

Our state-of-the-art center offers infusion therapies for adults suffering from common autoimmune disorders, including:

  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Psoriatic Arthritis
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis
  • Plaque Psoriasis

Though the names of the conditions are different, the symptoms of autoimmune conditions originate from the same culprit—inflammation. Infusion therapies at the PACT Center target the proteins that cause inflammation, thus reducing symptom frequency and severity.

Infusion therapies at PACT Infusion Center include:

Injection and Infusion Medications at PACT Infusion Center

Remicade® – REMICADE treats adult and pediatric Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as adult rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and plaque psoriasis. REMICADE works by blocking the TNF-alpha protein in your immune system responsible for the inflammation that causes disease symptoms.

Entyvio® – ENTYVIO treats ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. ENTYVIO is the first and only GI-focused biologic, targeting inflammation within the gastrointestinal tract.

Inflectra® – INFLECTRA is a biosimilar medication to REMICADE, used for the treatment of adult and pediatric Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as adult rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and plaque psoriasis.

Stelara® – STELARA is used to treat Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, and psoriatic arthritis. It is a biologic that targets IL-12 and IL-23 proteins, which cause the GI inflammation associated with these rheumatologic illnesses.

Tysabri® – TYSABRI is used in the treatment for Crohn’s disease and multiple sclerosis (MS). In MS it has been shown to slow the progression of disability, decrease relapses, and reduce brain lesions.

Skyrizi® – SKYRIZI treats plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn’s disease. By reducing inflammation, SKYRIZI helps some patients improve the appearance of inflammatory skin conditions as well as decrease the painful symptoms of inflammatory bowel disorders.

In addition to infusion therapy options, we offer injectable medications for similar conditions.

Injectable Medications at PACT Infusion Center

Injectable medications at PACT Infusion Center include:

Cimzia® – CIMZIA is offered as an injectable treatment option at PACT.

Humira® – HUMIRA treats those with rheumatoid arthritis, plaque psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, non-infectious uveitis, and a number of other autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. It works by targeting the inflammation that causes disease symptoms.

Stelara® – STELARA is offered as an injectable as well as an infusion therapy option at PACT.

Skyrizi® – SKYRIZI is used to treat adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, active psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn’s disease.

What to Expect During Infusion Therapy

After we work with your provider to determine which of our infusion therapy options are right for you, you can schedule an appointment at PACT Infusion Center. Once you arrive, you’ll have access to free on-site parking, WiFi, Netflix, and television.

During infusion therapy, our healthcare team places an intravenous catheter in your arm or hand which will infuse the medications into your body. This allows the medication to immediately reach your bloodstream, providing faster relief from symptoms. Infusion therapy treatments vary in time and frequency but can range from 30 minutes to several hours per treatment. You can relax in a comfortable, fully reclining chair and will be seen by a team with a combined 20 years of experience in infusing biologics.

Physicians are available on-site at all times and we provide an on-site laboratory for routine blood tests as well. Our pre-authorization specialist, licensed Registered Nurses, and physicians work together to ensure a safe, streamlined experience for each patient who visits.
